1. Who we are

Purpose-Driven Events is operated by Sparx Publishing Group, based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. We are the data controller for personal information collected through this website.

2. Information we collect

  • Event submissions: When you submit an event, we collect your name, email address, organization name, and event details. This information is used to process your submission and contact you about its status.
  • Newsletter: If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address. We use this to send you event listings and updates. You may unsubscribe at any time.
  • Contact form: We collect your name, email, organization (optional), and message content to respond to your inquiry.
  • Analytics: We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors find and use this site: which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors are located, and what kind of device they use. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally. We also use Ahrefs Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and stores no personal data.
  • Cookies: Google Analytics sets cookies when you arrive on the site. They record a randomly generated identifier so that repeat visits can be counted as one visitor; they do not carry your name, email, or any information you have given us elsewhere on this site. We set no advertising cookies and we do not use this data to target ads.
  • How to opt out: You can block these cookies with your browser’s privacy settings, or install Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on, which stops the data being sent from your browser on every site that uses Google Analytics. The site works normally either way.

3. How we use your information

We use personal information only for the purposes for which it was collected: processing event submissions, responding to contact inquiries, sending newsletters (with consent), and improving the site through aggregated analytics. We do not sell or share personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Data retention

We retain submission data for as long as the event is listed and for a reasonable period afterward for record-keeping. Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe. Contact form submissions are retained for up to 12 months.

5. Your rights (PIPEDA / GDPR)

You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us at webmaster@sparxpg.com. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

6. Third-party services

We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies: Google Analytics and Ahrefs Web Analytics (site analytics), Resend (email delivery), and Supabase (database hosting). Payment processing for premium submissions is handled by Stripe; we do not store payment card information.
